Janus FreeArcGIS Pro add-in

From ArcGIS® Pro to Strabo,
symbology and all.

Janus is a free add-in for ArcGIS Pro. One click packages your layers, their data and their symbology for Strabo, so the map your team opens on the web looks exactly like the one you built on the desktop.

Looking both ways

Same layers. Same symbology. Now on the web.

Named for the Roman god of doorways, Janus faces both ways: your ArcGIS Pro project on one side, Strabo on the other. What you styled is what everyone sees.

1
Add Janus to ArcGIS Pro

Install it from the Add-In Manager. It appears as a Janus group on the Add-In tab.

2
Export for Strabo

Pick how to package your map, then export every visible layer with its data and style.

3
Bring it into Strabo

Drop the package onto the map, or batch import a whole folder from the Data tab. Layers arrive ready-styled.

Three ways to package

One layer, a themed set, or the whole project

Choose in the Export Options dialog before you export. Each one suits a different kind of handover.

One layer per package

Every layer becomes its own package, with its definition query applied. Simple to share, simple to update one at a time.

Themed layers, one dataset

Many layers drawn from the same table, such as zoning split by category, share a single copy of the data. Nothing is duplicated.

Whole project, one file

Every layer and every style in a single self-contained package. The easiest way to hand a complete project to Strabo.

What comes across

Your cartography, not an approximation of it

Janus reads each layer's symbology straight from ArcGIS Pro and translates it for the web, so you don't restyle anything twice.

  • Renderers: single symbol, unique values and graduated colours.
  • Symbols: solid, hatched and picture fills, outlines and point symbols.
  • Colour: faithful whichever colour model you styled in, including RGB, HSV, CMYK and Lab.
  • Definition queries: carried across as filters, so each layer shows exactly what it showed in Pro.
  • Styles on their own: export one layer's style from its right-click menu, or every style in the map at once.

Batch import

Moving a whole library? Bring it in one run.

The Data tab has a batch import built for Janus packages. Point it at a folder and every package in it comes into Strabo, ready-styled, for everyone or just for you.

  • Whole folders at once, including packages too large to drop in the browser.
  • Shared or personal: import into your organisation's catalogue or your own.
  • Dry run first: check every package before anything is written.
  • Skip or replace layers you've already brought across.
  • Fault-tolerant: one damaged package never stops the rest.

Works with everything

Published once, ready everywhere

Served by Fulcrum

Imported layers are served as fast, filterable tiles straight away. There's no separate publishing step.

Drawn by Pythia

Dense layers can draw through Pythia, in exactly the symbology you exported, at every zoom.

Ready for the team

Every layer arrives styled, so colleagues add it to their maps without touching a style panel.

Questions about Janus

Is Janus really free?

Yes. Janus is free to download and use. You'll need a Strabo workspace to import into, and you can start a free trial if you don't have one yet.

Which versions of ArcGIS Pro does it support?

ArcGIS Pro 3.x.

Will it change my ArcGIS Pro project?

No. Janus only reads your layers and their symbology, and writes the export files you ask for. Your project is left exactly as it was.

How do I update a layer after I've changed it in Pro?

Export it again and import the new package. Batch import can replace layers you've brought across before, or skip them.
